Trip to the ER #2!
(the first time was with Croupe like a year ago)
Our day started like any other day. Up at 8, getting breakfast, changing and watching cartoons. I started baking a cake because we were having friends over for dinner that night.
I got the cake done and decided to hop in the shower, got out and remembered that I needed to put the rolls out to start rising. I had a bottom drawer open getting some plastic wrap out and Max came BOLTING across the floor, tripped and hit the corner of the open drawer.
It all happened so fast that it is kind of a blur, but I just remember scooping him up looking at his head and seeing a HUGE gaping gash above his eye. I tried to keep my cool as I ran to grab a towel, got it wet with cold water and held it tight against his "OWIE"!
Before the tears started flowing down my face I remember feeling light headed as I dialed Brad's number.
Of course he didn't answer, I was wondering what I should do. Well, I could only think to try Brad again (he's always much more calm in these types of situations)
....
FINALLY,
he answered
I think I terrified him because all he heard was me say Max and then me bawling and Max screaming in the background.
He said I'm on my way home right now we'll take him to the ER!
I collected myself enough to throw my soaking wet hair up and slip on Max's slippers (he was still in his PJ's) and his coat and get him in the car.

It really doesn't look that bad in the pictures, but staring at it for a long period of time made me want to puke a little!
We got to the hospital and they checked us in and kept telling us that maybe they could just glue it, I was happy with that. I did not want to hold my kid down while they gave him stitches!
A bunch of different doctors came in and looked and we came to the conclusion that he did in fact need stitches!
They went over the options:
1. Tie him down to a bed numb the area and stitch it up.
or
2. Sedate him and stitch it up.
We decided to sedate him. We know how acts when he is approached by a nurse, doctor, or anyone of that sort and we figured that would be best!
I wasn't about to watch my child be restrained in a hospital bed.
He was such a trooper! They brought in a TV and let us watch CARS 2 and he was in heaven!
Getting the IV in to sedate him was the worst part. I hate holding my child down as he is screaming "OUCH!" It's the worst! A few tears were shed on my part again! I wanted to stay the whole time while he was sedated, but it got really hard when he started coughing and breathing funny so I stepped out and let Brad handle it!
He's all done!
5 stitches and a little LOOPY!!
He was so funny waking up. We couldn't stop laughing at the things he was saying!
Home with his blue crayon band aid and his new blanket!
We had the BEST nurses and doctor take care of our little man. They gave him this blanket that a volunteer made and Max LOVES it!

Max, we LOVE you so much and are so glad that you are OK! We know this won't be the first time something like this happens, but maybe next time mom will be able to handle it better! You are one TOUGH little dude!

I'll post Christmas and stuff later, just needed to document this story!

Poor little guy!! I agree, I would have had him sedated. Michael was looking over my shoulder as I looked at this post and he was saying, "Mommy, is that baby so so sad?"

poo little bugger!! I'm SO glad everything went smoothly though. we did stitches and sedation with Colter when he was 16 months old (August 2, 2009 to be exact, I remember it like it was YESTWERDAY!!!)
It was a nightmare and ended in an overnight stay at Primarys and a nice little lawsuit :(
